Adult Protective Service
Based in Napanee, this program advocates the rights of adults with developmental disabilities, helps them gain access to services, and also offers counselling, crisis intervention and other supports unavailable in the community. Eligibility: Open to adults (18 and older) with developmental disabilities who wish to live as independently as possible in the community.
Area served: Southern Lennox & Addington County. Referrals: Accepted from the person with the developmental disability, a family member, professional, or agency workers. Shortly after the referral is made a home visit takes place to determine whether the program is appropriate for the individual.
Waiting period: Variable. While crisis situations and referrals to other agencies are dealt with promptly, there is a waiting list for ongoing adult protective service.
