Epidemiology

Jointly appointed by Queen's University and Ongwanada, the epidemiologist is engaged in teaching, research, consultative services, and the supervision of graduate students in the field of developmental disabilities. Regular surveys of Ongwanada families, clients, and Home Share providers are conducted to evaluate services and to recommend improvements. Also under study are trends behind incidents of injury and abuse, quality of life issues, and the prevalence of developmental disability in the population of eastern Ontario.

Epidemiology in collaboration with Queen's University has also produced a video entitled "Fire Proof" to educate people with developmental disabilities about fire safety. The video features Ongwanada clients and can be purchased for $74.99. Reduced rates for multiple orders.
