Media Release
Kingston - Ongwanada unveiled its 2009/2010 Annual Report today at its 39th Annual General Meeting. Entitled "Planning for a Bright Future" the report outlined the many new initiatives and developments that have occurred at Ongwanada over the past year.
"This year's theme of planning for a bright future very much describes the past year at Ongwanada," said Board President Janice Spencer. "The year has been one of planning and advancement. During this year, a five-year strategic plan has been developed to help Ongwanada address whatever 'forks in the road' it may face and also installed a state of the art communication system."
Spencer continued to state, "Everyone at Ongwanada did their part to ensure all criteria were met relating to Required Organizational Practices so Ongwanada could receive full accreditation in May of 2010."
During his address, Executive Director R.W. Seaby stated, "The last year has revolved around moving into our next 60 years and planning for a bright future at Ongwanada. At the heart of planning for the future has been our commitment to our clients and their rights to be supported, while increasing their opportunities to make choices and decisions about the quality of their lives, and responding to their changing needs."
Ongwanada is a non-profit charitable organization that provides programs and services to more than 600 adults and children with developmental disabilities and their families in Kingston and the surrounding area. Programs and services are delivered at three sites, in 26 community residences and other homes and offices in the region.
