POSITION:
Reporting to the Senior Director Operations, the Director, Supportive Living & Specialized Services is responsible for the effective and efficient oversight and management of Ongwanada’s supportive living and specialized and professional services ensuring the intent and purpose of Ongwanada’s mission, vision and strategic and operational plans are consistently promoted through these services.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the development and management of professional and specialized team which includes psychologists, nurses, social workers, psychotherapists, behaviour analyst, behaviour therapists, occupational therapists, physiotherapist, community clinical nurses, dietician, speech language pathologists, and communication disorder assistants;
- Ensuring that the provision of services for individuals with a developmental disability meet the required standards and legal obligations;
- Develop and grow the programs to support the community including partnerships, medical services hub services, and clinical pod teams;
- Lead and develop services capable of adapting to the changing needs of people served and supported, their families, and the community;
- Actively takes accountability in reporting progress on strategic directions, annual operational and other identified goals;
- Understands, interprets, and ensure compliance with legislation and regulations and policy and procedures;
- Oversees efficient and effective day-to-day operations of supportive living and community programs;
- Authorizes expenditures within approved budget and within delegated scope of authority while maintaining the financial stability and viability of the programs and working within the overall financial position of Ongwanada;
- Assisting the Senior Director Operations with the annual evaluation of the strategic planning process and selection of annual goals and objectives;
- Identifies needs and works with maintenance/finance/and other directors to ensure homes/facilities are in a good state of repair;
- Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- Completed undergraduate degree in social service, health, business or related field; master’s level preferred;
- 10+ years of progressive management and leadership experience, preferably in developmental services or health or a related sector;
- Knowledge and understanding of Ontario’s Developmental Services Sector;
- Creative problem solving, decision making, mediation, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills;
- Proven ability to lead, develop, mentor, and advocate for others;
- Experience leading and managing change;
- Budget and resource management experience;
- Experience working within a unionized environment preferred.
