Wage: Hourly: $34.23 – $48.24
Annual – $71,191 – $100,337

The Nurse Educator is responsible to work in conjunction with the management team in ensuring the highest level of nursing and personal support care is provided to individuals supported. Responsible for providing education and determining individual competencies of front-line unregulated care providers In addition the position is responsible for providing overall clinical education, consultation and support as required within a community clinical and supported group living setting.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Observes nursing and related delegated practices for conformance with provincial licensing-body standards and guidelines;
  • Provides education and evaluates staff through one on one training, visits, workshops, information technology and through demonstration of nursing/personal support care techniques or explaining principles and theory
  • Prepares and presents educational material to diverse audiences, including evaluating competency, knowledge, judgement and skill;
  • Oversees organizational infection control/outbreak management program

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • University Degree in Nursing (BScN)
  • Registered Nurse with current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario;
  • Minimum of three (3) years of recent and relevant experience in infection control;
  • Previous Nursing experience working with people with developmental disabilities/dual diagnosis , chronic conditions, medical complexities and technologies;
  • Theoretical and practical experience in adult education an asset;
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching, problem-solving and critical analysis;
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, interdisciplinary team members, clients and their families;
  • Strong computer skills, with excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including occasional evening and weekend work;
  • Current CPR and First Aid;
  • Current G license and access to reliable transportation.
