Position Summary:

The Manager, Supportive Living Services is responsible for the effective and efficient oversight and management of Ongwanada’s supportive living programs: supportive group living, host families and supportive individual living. 

 

The Manager, Supportive Living Services ensures effective use of resources in planning, assists in the development of human capital, responds to program needs, delivers clear messaging and awareness, and ensures coordination and collaboration across portfolios. The Manager provides a vital role in supporting the needs of people supported, and understands the priorities, data, and programs for enhancement of our services. 

All employees are responsible to ensure the intent and purpose of Ongwanada’s mission, vision, values and service principles, strategic and operational plans are consistently promoted and implemented. All employees are also required to fulfill their responsibilities as identified in legislative, regulatory, policy and procedures required by the agency to operate effectively.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Supportive Living Services
Ensure supportive living services are developed, implemented and updated as needed to meet the current and emerging needs of supported individuals. 
Ensure accurate written reports are kept of client programs (daily reports, medications), etc.. 
Review medical, behavioural issues and ensure follow-up with Supervisors- Supportive Living Services. 
Interpret policies and program philosophy to supportive living services staff and ensuring that these are followed. 
Define the roles of staff in conjunction with other disciplines and following clinical directions. 

Investigate incident reports involving clients or staff and ensure corrective actions. 

Leadership & Planning

Provide a continuity link amongst all community services through membership on relevant committees in order to ensure that all supportive services areas are working together towards the same goal. 
Promote and maintain harmonious relationships between staff and other departments to ensure that the needs of clients are paramount. 
Actively takes accountability in reporting progress on operational directions, quarterly operational and other identified goals. 
Oversee operational plans and partnerships within scope of role. 
Assume the role of lead for committees and projects as assigned by the Director. 

Prepare background information as required relative to planning, monitoring quality, and ensuring stability. 

Compliance & Risk Management

Understand, interpret, and ensure compliance with legislation and regulations and policy and procedures. 
Identify needed planning and organizational development. 

Identify and communicate potential liabilities and risks with plans to mitigate as required. 

Operational & Care Management

Oversees efficient and effective day-to-day operations of the portfolio. 
Works in the development of annual and quarterly operational plans and ensures emergency plans are updated and implemented as required. 
Oversee planning, coordination, and monitoring of outcomes. 
Ensures adherence to individual support and person-directed plans for people supported. 
Evaluate programs and services are achieved to meet quality and meaningful outcomes are met. 
Follow up and hold accountable those responsible for delegated actions. 

Assists in ongoing consultation with key stakeholders. 

Human Resources

Provide mentorship, professional guidance and support to the management team in supervision of staff and resolution of concerns. providing a positive, equitable, and learning environment. 
Conduct performance reviews of direct reports and related team members. 
Determine education /training needs and annual training plan for staff and direct reports. 

Ensure that disciplinary action is carried through and reported according to policies & procedures, as required. 

Financial Management

Develop program and service budgets as required. 
Works within prescribed processes to ensure development and implementation of an annual budget. 
Authorize expenditures within approved budget and within delegated scope of authority while maintaining the financial stability and viability of the portfolio and working within the overall financial position of Ongwanada. 
Provide relevant data and ensure accurate reporting on variances within a timely manner. 

Ensures formal systems and processes are adhered to. 

Communication & Relationships

Developing and maintain positive relationships both internal and external contacts. 
Ensure effective communication with staff, people supported and their families, and within other departments. 

Support the public image and credibility of Ongwanada.

Skills Required

Demonstrate excellent supervisory skills of supportive living programs and services
Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrate excellent organizational and time management skills, 
Demonstrate a solid understanding of budgets and financial management. 
Demonstrate proficiency in software and database applications. 
Demonstrate excellent program planning and design principles and skills

Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to ensure effective outcomes for community and recreational programs. 

Education/Qualifications Required

Diploma or degree in a related Human Services field, preferably in Developmental Services, Mental Health or related Health/Human Services.  
Advanced certification or training in Behavioural Sciences preferred.
Valid First Aid, CPR, and Crisis Training (CPI, SMG, UMAB, or related) 

Fluency in English/French, verbal and written, preferred. 

Experience Required

2-4 years direct support professional in developmental services.

Experience leading teams or team lead position an asset.

Effort Required

Sitting for long periods of time in meetings or at desk/computer.

Day to day activities may lead to moderate stress

Working Conditions

Valid G license and access to reliable transportation.
The incumbent will participate in on-call rotation for after hours agency operational support. 
Flexible working hours may be required to accommodate program/work requirements.

Some travel may be required to other work sites or community locations.
