POSITION:
Responsible for ensuring the security of our organization’s information systems and networks, including staying up-to-date with the latest security trends, performing system updates, monitoring logs, identifying potential vulnerabilities and threats, collaborating with the privacy office, and investigating alerts/detections to ensure the effectiveness of our security measures.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform hardware/firmware/software updates to firewalls, network hardware, Windows/Linux systems.
- Monitor firewalls, antivirus, log files and system alerts for threats, intrusions, unusual activities or anomalies and escalates as required to management.
- Respond to and mitigate security incidents, including conducting post-incident analysis and reporting.
- Participate in incident response, data safeguarding, computer forensics and investigations related to network breaches and/or unauthorized access of data.
- Research and analyze current exploits, vulnerabilities, and threats to provide insights into potential risks to our systems.
- Collaborate with other IT members to implement security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and data encryption.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of security policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Conduct security assessments and audits to identify weaknesses and recommend corrective actions.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- Degree or diploma in a Computer Science, or Information Technology related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Demonstrated two years experience as a Cyber Security Technician or in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of network protocols, operating systems (Windows and Linux), VMWare and security technologies.
- Familiarity with security tools and techniques for identifying vulnerabilities and mitigating threats.
- Knowledge of common security frameworks, standards, and best practices
- Ability to analyze log files, network traffic, and system events to identify potential security incidents.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize and think critically under pressure.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, convey complex security concepts.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) are a plus.
- Strong commitment to maintaining the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of sensitive information.
