ONGWANADA

Social Work

In consultation with the person and family, social workers coordinate admissions and discharge, discuss placement and programming options, and contribute as part of an interdisciplinary team to individual planning.

Social workers also provide assessments, education and short-term counselling to people supported by Ongwanada, as well as those accessing developmental services within the local community.

Social workers employed by Ongwanada are required to maintain professional membership in good standing with the College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. The college requires that social workers within its membership comply with a code of ethics and standards of care.

Referrals for supportive counselling and/or individual education may fall within the following, or for any other appropriate matter:

  • Grief and Loss
  • Anger Management
  • Anxiety
  • Assertiveness Training
  • Healthy Relationships/Sexuality
  • Life Transitions
