Permanent Full Time Supervisor, Community Supports – MNU-26-05

The Supervisor, Community Supports, is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of
community services and supports. The Supervisor provides leadership, direction, and supervision to
team members and ensures services comply with all legislative, regulatory, and accreditation
requirements.

Working collaboratively with staff, supported individuals, families, and community partners, the
Supervisor ensures high-quality, person-centered services are delivered within defined resources and
operational requirements.

individuals from Ongwanada’s supportive group living settings.

Treatment Counsellors– OP-26-74

Treatment Counsellors will work under the direction of the Supervisor-Specialized Accommodations & Intensive Supports and will support persons served in a specially designated transitional treatment home, and/or designated long-term specialized accommodation. Treatment Counsellors will be appointed as primary counsellors for specific persons served and will work collaboratively with families, agencies and other members of Ongwanada’s multi-disciplinary team utilizing a bio-psycho-social model.

Residential Counsellors– OP-26-73

The Residential Counsellor provides support for and advocates on behalf of supported individuals to meet their physical, psychological and social needs. They advise and assist Community Support Workers and other staff members under the direction of the Community Setting Supervisor and act as primary counselor for specific clients. They assist and actively participate in the planning and implementation of residential programs as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Permanent Part Time Pharmacist- MNU-26-01

The pharmacist is responsible to work in conjunction with the Director of Pharmacy in providing oversight of Pharmacy operations including: professional supervision of the Pharmacy facilities, equipment, supplies and drug information, record keeping and documentation, drug procurement and inventory management, training and orientation, safe medication practices in accordance with professional and Ongwanada policies and procedures.

The Professional Practice Lead, Psychological Services is responsible for the oversight, coordination, and continuous improvement of Ongwanada’s psychological and behavioural services.

Summer Student Employment

Summer Employment

Ongwanada recruits a limited number of students during the summer months. The majority of placements occur within the community residences.

Applicants must be enrolled in a post-secondary program, preferably in Health Sciences and will be continuing studies in the fall. Experience working with the developmentally disabled would be an asset.

Teaching Agreement Placements

Student Placements

Ongwanada became a teaching site for student placements in the 1980s, at which time the Board of Governors indicated that in order to safeguard the dignity and rights of clients, placements would proceed only if a teaching agreement is in place with the educational institution.

Ongwanada is involved with programs at Queen’s University, St. Lawrence College and many others.
