re: Christmas Greeting

Dear Ongwanada family members,

I want to take the opportunity this holiday season to wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and prosperous 2021.

2020 has been quite the year, with the pandemic being announced some 270 days ago, on March 13.  Since then, all of our lives have been affected to a greater or lesser degree; we can’t socialize like we used to, we can’t travel like we used to, dining out, live bands, live sporting events are somewhat distant memories.  We have all had to adapt and to play our part in keeping ourselves and each other safe.

With a vaccine on the horizon, I am hopeful that by next Christmas, and hopefully well before, life will start to return to normal.  But to get there, we need to get through the next few months; we can’t afford to let our guard down now, having successfully negotiated the past eight months or so.  We recognize that Christmas will be challenging, with limited opportunity for you to visit with your loved ones under our care and ask for your understanding.

Ongwanada will continue to take whatever steps necessary to ensure the safety of the people we support and our staff.  We will continue to adjust programs and activities and limit visits and gatherings to comply with Provincial directives and those of our local Public Health unit. We will of course keep you apprised of any changes being made to our services.

In the meantime, I want to express my personal thanks for your support, understanding, and patience as we navigated the challenges of the past eight months.

Please accept my best wishes and season’s greetings.

Sincerely,
Alastair Lamb
CEO
