Dear Ongwanada families:

Further to my e-mail of June 17th, I wish to advise that overnight visits allowing supported individuals to spend time with families will be permitted effective Monday July 12; however, when the supported individual returns from such a visit they will be required to be isolated until a COVID-19 PCR test has been performed and a negative result received – it will take up to two days to receive results after the test has been submitted, please note these tests can only be performed Monday- Friday.

Families planning an overnight visit for their loved one must arrange the visit with the appropriate home supervisor.  The ability of the organization to support an overnight visit will be dependent on available isolation space for the individual upon their return.  It is expected that, to the extent possible, supported individuals and families adhere to Infection Prevention and Control guidelines during the visit, as outlined in my previous communication.

In addition, we have received approval for our supported folks to get together to socialize outdoors in groups of up to twenty-five people, including staff. To the extent possible, social distancing and Infection Prevention and Control guidelines will be followed.

The above guidelines are possible since almost all of our supported individuals and many of our staff are fourteen days post second COVID-19 vaccination.

Thank you again for your patience as we slowly manage our way out of this challenging time.

Yours sincerely,

Alastair Lamb M.Sc., MPA

Chief Executive Officer
