Dear Ongwanada Families;

We are pleased to inform you that masks are no longer required within Ongwanada facilities and homes. This decision was made in light of the recent announcement by the World Health Organization (WHO) declaring an end to COVID-19 as a global health emergency.  Of course there will be occasions in which masks are still required, for example when delivering personal care and providing assistance with bathing, changing, eating, etc.

It is important to remember that, despite the WHO announcement, COVID-19 is still present in the community, and good infection control practices (hand hygiene, cough etiquette, social distancing, and wearing PPE when appropriate) should be followed at all times.

We also ask that you continue with passive screening before any visits and stay home if you are experiencing symptoms related to COVID. If you test positive for COVID or are a high risk contact you are reminded that you must not attend the home for at least 10 days.

Please reach out with any questions or concerns that you may have regarding these changes.

Sincerely,

A. Alastair Lamb M.Sc. MPA
CEO
