The Supported Individual Advisory Committee (SIAC) held its annual elections on Thursday (February 12), and the meeting was filled with enthusiasm, laughter, and great engagement from everyone.

There was tremendous interest in joining this year’s Executive Committee. Each member took their turn voting for the roles of Chair, Vice Chair, and Secretary with help from staff, Maureen, and Eric. Four individuals ran for Secretary, with Wendy receiving the most votes. Six members expressed interest in the Vice Chair position, and Thomas emerged as the winner. Four individuals ran for Chair, and Francine was elected.

SIAC’s commitment to advocacy and collaboration was evident throughout the event. Meeting monthly, the committee continues to provide a platform for sharing experiences and perspectives on Ongwanada’s services. By ensuring that supported individuals have a say in service delivery, policy decisions, and program development, SIAC plays a vital role in shaping a more inclusive environment.

Congratulations to our new executive members and to those stepping down from their roles. Logan (former Chair), Elana (former Vice Chair), and Kaitlyn (former Secretary), your service and dedication are greatly appreciated.

Here’s to another year of growth, collaboration, and meaningful impact within the Ongwanada community.
