Dear Ongwanada Families:

We are happy to inform you about some changes that the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS) released yesterday.

Effective today, if you and your loved one are fully vaccinated, you no longer have to wear a mask during outdoor visits; we will inquire about your vaccine status when you visit. However, if you have received only a single dose of vaccine, haven’t been vaccinated, or choose not to disclose your vaccine status, you are required to wear a mask when visiting outdoors.  All indoor visitors continue to be required to wear a mask.  We will also continue to ask all visitors to complete the COVID-19 screening, whether you are taking your loved one off the premises or staying with them at the home.

Further, MCCSS no longer requires fully vaccinated (14 days post the second dose) supported individuals to self-isolate or have a COVID-19 test conducted upon return from an overnight visit. However, we do ask that you arrange these visits ahead of time with staff.

These changes are a positive indication of things slowly returning to a sense of normalcy. Still, we ask for your continued patience and understanding as we work to ensure everyone’s safety.

Yours sincerely,

Alastair Lamb
CEO
